Is Sunday Adeyemo – Igboho – a “political Offender”?

Whether or not Mr Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho, is a "political Offender" is not a Decision for his Lawyer, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Yomi Aliu and Retinue to make, but for the Courts to determine. There are prima facie Grounds for the criminal Investigation of Mr Adeyemo. Nigerian Security Agents insist they found illegal Firearms on his Premises, and that he and Supporters shot at these Agents, et cetera. Whether the Nigerian Authorities can sustain these Grounds in Court is another Matter, though. Further, Mr Aliu has to prove to the Beninoise Courts his Proposition that Adeyemo “will not get justice” in Nigerian Courts. Mr Yomi Aliu in making this Claim is telling the whole World that he, as an Officer of the Nigerian Courts, works within a disreputable Jurisprudence in and with full Knowledge. This is so heavy a Condemnation of the Nigerian legal System that no Jurisprudence in the World will just accept his say-so unless he provides irrefutable Evidence.
However, there is a criminal Allegation that the Nigerian Government can level against Adeyemo aka Igboho in support of Extradition. The other Day, Mr Adeyemo forcefully and violently evicted Fulani Settlers from Locations he asserted to be Yorubaland with his "Ile Baba wa" (our Father's Land) Declaration. He boasted that he had given them ample Warning to vacate. Those Fulani Persons were not Tenants on Adeyemo's personal Property. They are Nigerians settled on Nigerian Lands. Instead, it was Adeyemo Igboho who criminally trespassed on the Fulani Homes. This Mr Adeyemo Igboho's Bloody-mindedness was reported in Nigeria's Media, and they are Pieces of Evidence against him. There is no "Ile Baba wa" for any Nation1 in Nigeria. Any Land, any Space in Nigeria belongs to the Nationalities2 constituting Nigeria. Always eager and ready to accuse "Fulani Herdsmen" of invading Yoruba Farmlands, Yoruba Commentators, especially, celebrated "Sunday Igboho." Yet, this Hooliganism by Adeyemo Igboho breached many Sections of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution. Some of the Fulani this Man criminally uprooted from their Homes were in those Locations even before Sunday Adeyemo was conceived let alone born. He presented no bona fide Evidence of Wrongdoing against those Settlers either to his Yoruba Triumphalists or the Security Agencies. He simply took the Law into his Hands, and rewrote the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria sections 34, 35, 36, 37, 41, 42, 43, and probably section 33 too. How is that for "Justice", Mr SAN Yomi Aliu?
No Person can be more powerful than the Country to which s/he is a Citizen. Sunday Adeyemo believed he was. He then went on the Run, and into Hiding when Security Forces came knocking to let him know he had been gravely mistaken. Now in Detention, he is begging for 'Fairness'. Most Contemptible. It is always those who deliberately extend no 'Fairness' to Others that desperately demand 'Fairness' for themselves. If YorubaNigeria's Intransigence continues the Way it is going, Nigeria will inevitably be entangled in another Civil War. Elements of IgboNigeria, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), have already worked their Consciousness into initiating one. The Playout is this: if YorubaNigeria joins with IPOB, the War would be bloodier and longer than was witnessed in 1967 to 1970. I do not know how many times I need to say that Nigeria has never been a geo-social Reality and never will. It has simply been limping along since 1 October 1960. There is no Reason, there has never been, for the Nations of that Country forced together by Colonialism to remain indivisible. A ba. That the current President of Nigeria is not Yoruba is far removed from the Problem. The Conundrum is the Territorial-State of Nigeria itself. The National Assembly of Nigeria should be reasonable, and must enact Law soonest for the peaceful Divisibility of Nigeria. I cannot ask enough for this to happen.
I do not need to remind SAN Aliu that Court (judicial) Pleadings are not Hypotheses, i.e. Sunday Adeyemo "is a political offender." If Aliu wants to do Hypotheses, he should go do a Research Degree, and even then he has to be sensible with the Questions he asks and the Conclusions he draws. Eric Nelson tried hypothesising in his Defence of Derek Chauvin. He failed. Woefully. Besides, Mr Adeyemo is not being tried. He is a Detainee, or rather a Remandee, on “international” Arrest Warrant from Nigeria where they seek to question him, or at worst interrogate him, to identify whether or not to charge him with Offences, and which Charges to prefer.
Mr Adeyemo's Extradition lies now on whether Nigeria can substantiate Allegations, in superficie, of criminal Conduct against him. The World will be watching. If Nigeria produces incontrovertible Evidence, but the Beninoise Authorities reject it, the Republic of Benin would have set a Precedent for Nigeria’s quid pro quo. It is how “international” Relations work. Notably, quid pro quo is not always or necessarily Repeats of Circumstances.
Nota Bene: I have written previously in an Essay that FulaniNigerians are not exempt from the Laws of Nigeria, and must not be allowed to breach those Laws at will. See http://ipemndohdaniyan.blogspot.com/2021/04/country-is-not-necessarily-nation-talk.html
